The Puerto Rico Water Resources and Environmental Research Institute (PRWRERI) is one of 54 water research centers established throughout the United States and its territories by The Water Research Resource Act of 1964 and presently operates under Section 104 of the Water Research and Development Act of 1984 (P.L. 98-242). Sponsored by federal and university funds, PRWRERI undertakes a variety of research projects aimed at addressing water resources and environmental issues in Puerto Rico.
We play a crucial role in conducting and promoting water resources research within the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez Research and Development Center. We serve as a recognized advisor to the University of Puerto Rico and the government, providing valuable insights and expertise on relevant issues. Through our approach, PRWRERI contributes to impactful research programs and activities that benefit the Puerto Rican community.
