Title: Hydrodynamic and Salinity Study for Boqueron's Wildlife Reserve
Duration: July 15, 2009 - Jun 6, 2012
Introduction The "Hydrodynamic and
Salinity Study for Boquerón's Wildlife Reserve" project, funded by the
Department of Natural and Environmental Resources of Puerto Rico, was
established in order to know the water balance between the salt water
pumped from the Boquerón spout and the freshwaters from the drainage
system of the South Irrigation Canal. This project is divided into a
hydrological study to quantify the amount of water that is provided by
the basins adjacent to the drainage channel and the refuge, and a
hydraulic study to determine the water balance within the refuge. Both
studies will allow the creation of a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model
at the Boquerón reserve.
