About me
Dra. Madga Latorre-Esteves holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Harvard Medical School and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez (UPRM). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship focusing on nanoparticle-cell interactions at UPRM. Since 2014, she has served as an Associate Researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UPRM, where she was Assistant Researcher from 2009 to 2014. Her research has led to several publications in the field of nanotechnology, including studies on the synthesis and application of magnetic nanoparticles. Dr. Magda has also contributed to the development of the UPRM Bioengineering Graduate Program and has mentored over 30 undergraduate students. Additionally, she has played a key role in the NSF-funded Nanomedicine Academy of Minority Serving Institutions and served as an Alternate Member of UPRM’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
